Planar Origami

The world of origami has been flourishing as of late due to some very smart mathematicians and computer scientists.

TED: origami

I want nothing to do with this nonsense.

Imported Japanese origami paper, India ink, Elmers 100% authentic bovine glutamine glue, and a steady hand.

more Beatle mania

Mean Mister Mustard sleeps in the park
Shaves in the dark trying to save paper

First a drawing in my sketchbook, then traced in illustrator on my tablet.

Sleeps in a hole in the road
Saving up to buy some clothes

sorry if his little pee pee is offensive.

Keeps a ten buck note up his nose
Such a mean old man

Archeological Discovery

Here lye the lost pots of Pompeii, and among the dead they rested for two thousand years with burning ash and crocodile tears. But rain and wind and snow, prevailing gusts of daring trends, they were revealed by chance and manipulation. Perfect vessels the lot except one inferior pot, thrown by the hands of god, not man, who smoothed their earthen bend. And I merely walked along to find them peering from the sand. A vase, a pitcher, and a sconce, with black and white motifs, an octopus and an ox. When I looked down at my foot, I could not help but feel their pain in among the soot. For when the earth ends these ceramics will be lost again.

tat

When you ask your artist friend to draw you a tat and then you don't get it, that is a huge smack in the face.

Naw, just kidding.

This was a great exercise for my design markers. Also a great opportunity to use a few shades of gray, it's a color I often neglect. I know the importance of gray is paramount, specially middle gray.

If you were to get this on your body permanently, I'm not sure if I would be flattered or mortified.

Papaver Biloba

Our back yard is an ongoing project. Like many homes in western PA we have poppies and a ginkgo tree. Both have been very popular design elements throughout history, as inspiration has always been drawn from nature.

It has been said, to capture even a poor likeness of nature is sure to give you beautiful results.

happy interdependence day.

This work is watercolor and a collage of news-clippings. I would have kept this piece secret till my show, but the red, white, and blue theme made this an impossible post to pass up.
